How to downgrade Xperia phone to gingerbread? Most of the Xperia phone owner need this one. Because of recently Sony mobile released android 4 ice cream sandwich upgrade for the Xperia Arc S, Arc, Neo V, Neo, Ray, Pro, Live with Walkman, Mini, Mini Pro, Active, S, P phone.

Some of them are disappointed this update. Because some of the ICS versions are a little bit slower.

There are two options available, submit your phone to the Sony service center and request to downgrade ( not affect warranty) or flashing gingerbread firmware yourself ( warranty can be void).

If you selected the second option, you have to use the flashtool computer application. Within few minutes you can apply the GB firmware. This tutorial based on the second method. First we install the GB firmware after that we root the phone.

Downgrading to Gingerbread

Requirements. 

  • This procedure wipes all the data on your phone internal memory, So backup your phone ( guide in here)
  • Fully charge your device

How to downgrade Xperia Arc, Arc S, Neo, Neo V, Ray, PRo, LWW, Mini, Mini Pro Active.

  • Enable USB debugging on your phone ( Settings>Developer options)
  • Enable  MSC mode (Settings>Xperia>Connectivity settings>USB connection mode)
  • If your downloaded ROM is a compressed ( .zip, .rar, ) uncompressed until you receive “.ftf” file.
  • Now copy that ROM file into the following folder “C:\Flashtool\firmwares”
  • Run the “Flashtool.exe” file
  • Click “Flash” button ( thunder symbol)
  • Now it displays  “Mode selector” dialog box, select “Flash mode”and click “OK”
  • In the firmware selection window select the extracted “.ftf” file location ( default it load “C:\Flashtool\firmwares” folder firmwares.
  • Select the required firmware on the left side “select firmware” selection
  • Tick “Wipe user data” and “Wipe cache”
  • Click “OK”.

  • Now disconnect your phone from the computer, if it already connected.
  • Power off the phone.
  • Enable flash mode by press and hold the volume down button and same time connect the phone to the PC via USB cable (differ from device to device)
  • Now the flashing procedure will be started and you can view its progress on the flash tool
  • When Flashtool display “Please wait. The phone will reboot“. Disconnect phone from the PC and use it.
  • First boot will take longer time, its normal and display Sony logo for a few minutes.

  • Enable your phone USB debugging
  • Enable “Unknown source”
  • Enable  MSC mode (Settings>Xperia>Connectivity settings>USB connection mode)

 

How to root Xperia Arc, Arc S, Neo, Neo V, Ray, PRo, LWW, Mini, Mini Pro Active.

  • Connect your xperia phone into your computer
  • Click “unlock Lock” button
  • Wait for a few seconds
  • Now your phone will be rebooted.
  • You can see “Supersuer” app on your apps drawer.
