Enable USB Debugging.
You can enable your device USB Debugging mode. ICS and older device “Settings>Applications>Development“. Now tap on the “USB Debugging” check box.  Jelly bean and newer version “Settings>Developer options , enable Developer options and check USB debugging”

Install ADB drivers.
Windows computers require install ADB drivers to start this process. So before root download and install them.
